Two poems by Gwendolyn Brooks

I'm back to post every two weeks on a Thursday, in lieu of my attempt to work on my project
(which is taking a bit longer than I anticipated) and revive my activeness on social to network. I believe I can do this. With that, please, listen to me recite "Still do I keep my Look, my Identity" and "The White Troops had their orders but the Negroes looked like Men," two poems by Gwendolyn Brooks.

Writing quote of inspiration of the day.

Hi, fellow writ-makers. I have continued my literary trek by participating more in open mic events, here in my home town of Huntsville, Alabama  A special thanks to the Coffeehouse Poets, who will be celebrating their 8-year anniversary on 8/21/16, created by T.C. Caldwell and Nakia Underwood, and Out Loud HSV, created by Kimberly Casey, for being so welcoming with warmth. Recently, I surprisingly and unexpectedly won third place at an open mic event that was held at Hops Wild Craft Beer Bar, and the people and especially the talent were incredible. My trek continues. - Jarrod
